The Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 12th of April, complained against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its leaders.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Randeep Surjewala, the INC leaders, alleged PM Modi and Amit Shah, the President of the BJP, of introducing the armed forces into politics.
After repetitive warnings of the Election Commission of India (ECI,) the BJP and its leaders are including the Pulwama attack, the Balakot strike and the Indian Army in their speeches, to win the Lok Sabha elections.
Mr. Singhvi also met the ECI and reported the fake qualification of Smriti Irani, the current Textile Minister of India.
Smriti Irani submitted an affidavit while filing her nomination papers from the Amethi constituency, on the 12th of April. According to the qualifications stated in her nomination papers, she is not a graduate, but in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, she submitted papers, stating she was a graduate.
The INC leaders criticised Ms. Irani for stating contradictory qualifications and said, the Minister lied to the public and the ECI.
Mr. Surjewala said, the Party is not commenting about her qualifications as an illiterate person could handle the high position, but the fact she cheated the public is their concern.
Surjewala said, “But the question is the people have been cheated and the Minister has lied to them about her qualifications.” He further said, “There is no information about the degree of the PM and also his favourite minister Irani. There are no classmates of the PM and Irani who are coming out. This is a very serious issue as the people have been cheated repeatedly.”
With a list of complaints, the INC leaders demanded immediate action against the Modi led BJP. They also sought an investigation behind the malfunctioning of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in various states during the 1st phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
Approximately 20 states contested a total of 91 Lok Sabha seats in India in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, which took place on the 11th of April.
The Lok Sabha elections will continue till the 19th of May.
The major parties contesting the elections are the INC and the BJP.
The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
