Milind Deora, the President of the Indian National Congress (INC) in Mumbai, on the 7th of July, resigned from his post.

The decision of Mr. Deora came after Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the INC, submitted his resignation and bid goodbye to the Party as the President.

Milind Deora took the responsibility for the defeat of the INC in the Mumbai Lok Sabha elections and submitted his resignation.

The resignation of Mr. Deora comes at a time when the INC is facing internal issues regarding who the next President of the INC will be.

Mr. Deora held a meeting with Rahul Gandhi on the 26th of June, following which, he decided to quit as the President of the INC in Mumbai.

Milind Deora also suggested the INC constitutes a panel to overview the progress of the Mumbai Congress Committee.

According to sources, after resigning, Milind Deora may move to Delhi and play a national role in the Indian National Congress.

Deora contested the Lok Sabha elections as the Member of Parliament (MP) candidate from South Mumbai and lost against Arvind Sawant, a MP candidate of the Shiv Sena Party.

After Milind Deora, the expected candidates for the President’s post are Bhai Jagtap, Madhu Chavan and Varsha Gaikwad.
