Two militants were killed on the 28th of May in an ongoing encounter between militants and security forces in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir.
The fight broke out after the security forces launched a search operation in the Kokernag area of Anantnag.
The search operation was started based on intelligence information about militants hiding in the Kehripora area of Soaf Shali in Anantnag.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Police officials, the deceased militants were members of a terrorist group called Hizbul Mujahideen. However, the exact identity of the two dead militants are being ascertained.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police said, “A door to door search operation has been launched in the area.”
A joint team of 9 Rashtriya Rifles (RR,) Special Operations Group (SOG,) 164 BN Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police officials launched a search operation and cordoned off the area.
The officials are inspecting the area and the encounter is still going on in Anantnag.
