Just In: Tremors felt in New Delhi

New Delhi: On Monday, earthquake shook the New Delhi and adjoining areas. Strong tremors felt in the capital. Quake of magnitude 7.5 occurred at 2.39pm (IST) at 36.5N & 70.8E in Hindukush(Afghanistan) at depth of 190km.

So far, no reports of damage or loss of property have been reported. The tremors created panic among the residents. People evacuated the buildings ran out for open spaces. The quake was felt from India across Central Asia, Kabul and Afghanistan. Besides the national capital, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh were also jolted by strong tremors.Further details are still awaited.

The quake halted the services of Delhi Metro and reports said that phone lines were down in Srinagar. As many as 29 people were killed in the northwestern Pakistan and 50 others were injured in the natural disaster. The injured were immediately admitted to a hospital for the treatment.
