KCR Meets DMK Leader Kanimozhi In Chennai

Telangana Chief Minister met DMK Leader M. K. Kanimozhi on Monday afternoon in Chennai. The two leaders discussed National and regional politics. This meeting comes after KCR met Kanimozhi’s father M. Karunanidhi and her brother M. K. Stalin on Sunday.

In a press release, KCR told Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi that political parties need to be stronger to keep the federal spirit alive. KCR also stated regional parties would come together to secure more votes than the BJP and the Congress in the 2019 elections.   

Kanimozhi agreed with KCR and said the regional parties need to be more united and work together for the development of this Country. CM KCR also briefed the Rajya Sabha member about the Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project, Investment support scheme for agriculture and farmers, Purification of land records and Mission Bhagiratha.  

The daughter of the DMK leader assured KCR she would visit Hyderabad soon. She also said apart from visiting the Kaleshwaram Project site, she would also learn about the Mission Bhagiratha Scheme.

The son of Karunanidhi, Mr. Stalin organized a lunch at his residence for Mr. Rao where the two had a lengthy discussion on Sunday. The two leaders discussed the Center and State relations, powers handed to states and devolution of funds. They as said more discussions would be held in the future.  

At the joint press meet, KCR said, “Across the nation, there is a debate that there is a need for a qualitative change in governance of India, politics of India. So we have been holding discussions with leaders across the nation. Both of us (KCR and Stalin) had a word on phone with Mamata Banerjee also and we will be talking to many leaders across the country.”

After the meeting, KCR asked Mr. Stalin to be the Chief Guest at the launch of the Telangana Government Scheme next month. Stalin said his discussions with KCR circled around political issues and an announcement of an alliance would be done during elections.
