Richa Singh, a student of J.D. Birla Centre For Education, on the 8th of May became the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kolkata, West Bengal for one day.
Richa Singh was given this honour for her achievement of securing 99.25 % in her Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations of 12th standard. She also secured the fourth rank among the toppers of the ISC examinations nationally.
The decision to make her the DC for one day was taken by her father, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, the Additional Officer in charge of Gariahat Police Station.
Kalyan Mukherjee, the DC of the East South Division also appreciated and congratulated her for her achievement.
Seventeen year old Richa was the DC of Kolkata from 6:00 A.M., to 12:00 Noon, on the 7th of May. She gave orders and took reports from all officers in charge of police stations under the division.
When asked about her orders to her father, Rajesh Singh, she said, “I will order him to return home early”.
Speaking about the orders of the one day DC, Rajesh Singh said, “Can’t express how happy I am. She is my ‘superior’ for the day. She has ordered me to return home early. I shall obey her today.”
Richa a student of Arts in J.D. Birla wants to study History or Sociology or she can also appear for the UPSC examinations.
The ISC examinations results were announced on the 7th of May, approximately 96.52 % of students cleared the 12th standard of the ISC examinations.
