Devinder Singh Sehrawat, a legislative member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP,) on the 6th of May, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

Mr. Sehrawat was disappointed with the AAP, following which, in the presence of senior leaders of the BJP, he joined the Party in Delhi.

Speaking about the disappointment, Mr. Sehrawat said, the Party ignored and cornered him and was not even invited at the Party’s functions, following which, he quit the Party.

Sehrawat addressed a press conference and said, “I am one of the founding members of AAP. One of the executives. In the last three years, I was insulted and the needs of my constituency were neglected.”

He further said, “I worked with the AAP for many years. I was hurt by the lack of respect and the peculiar functioning of the party. It has detracted from its original path.”

However, Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and a member of AAP, denied the allegations and said, the BJP bribed 10 lawmakers of the Party to join the BJP.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and the President of the AAP, took to Twitter and criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The exit of the AAP member could be a major set back for the AAP in the upcoming Delhi Lok Sabha elections.

Delhi will contest for 7 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled on the 12th of May 2019.
The major parties contesting the Delhi Lok Sabha elections are the AAP, the BJP and the Indian National Congress (INC.)

The results of the Delhi Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
