After Azam Khan, a member of the Samajwadi Party (SP,) Guddu Pandit, a leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP,) violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) enforced by the Election Commission of India (ECI.)

The MCC is a set of guidelines issued by the ECI, which every politician has to follow during the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in India.

The MCC comes into force after the ECI announces the dates of the elections and continues until the results of the elections are announced.

Guddu Pandit alias Bhagwan Sharma, the Member of Parliament (MP) candidate of the BSP from Fatehpur Sikri, addressed the media and passed insulting remarks about Raj Babbar.

Raj Babbar is the President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) and the MP candidate from the Fatehpur Sikri constituency.

Mr. Guddu said, “Sunn lo Raj Babbar ke kutton, tumko aur tumare neta nachaniya ko dauda dauda kar jooton se maarunga. Jo jhoot faelaya samaaj mein. Jahan milega, Ganga maa ki saugandh tujhe jooton se maarunga, tujhe aur tere dalaalon ko.”

The Indian National Congress (INC) is angry regarding the remarks and complained to the ECI regarding the same. The INC asked the ECI to take strict action against the BSP member.

The political parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections have made hate speeches and derogatory comments their weapons, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. This is not the first time politicians have passed insulting comments to criticise the opposition parties’ members.

Recently, Yogi Adityanath, Mayawati Das, K. Chandrashekar Rao, Azam Khan, etc., were also in the limelight due to their comments.

During the Lok Sabha elections, parties try to use hate speech to gain followers and influence the voters to cast votes in their favour.

Uttar Pradesh will contest a total of 80 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which are divided into 7 phases. The first phase of the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections was held for 10 seats, on the 11th of April. The next 6 phases of the elections are scheduled to be held on the 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and the 19th of May.

The major parties contesting the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections are the Indian National Congress (INC,) the BJP and the grand alliance of the BSP and the SP.

The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
