The Election Commission of India (ECI,) on the 10th of April, issued a notice to K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR,) the Chief Minister of Telangana, for violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC.)

The MCC is a set of guidelines issued by the ECI, which every politician has to follow during the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in India.

The MCC comes into force after the ECI announces the dates of the elections and continues until the results of the elections are announced.

According to the notice issued to KCR, he violated the MCC during a public rally, which was held on the 17th of March, in the Karimnagar constituency, Telangana.

The Election Commission (EC) of Telangana, stated, “The Commission has received a complaint from M Rama Raju, State president, Viswa Hindu Parishad, wherein the complainant has stated that you have tried to secure votes by passing derogatory remarks EE HINDU GAALU……BONDU GAALU……DIKKUMALINA……DARIDMPU GALATI and DESHAM LO AGGI PETALE, GATTAR LEVALE” against Hindus while addressing an election rally at Karimnagar on March 17.”

According to the complainant, M. Rama Raju, the State President of the Viswa Hindu Parishad, KCR, the President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) made inappropriate remarks against the Hindus.

The EC said, Mr. Rao violated the MCC by making such remarks against the community, which may harm the peace and surroundings and influence the voters.

The ECI also asked KCR to respond with an explanation regarding his words by the 12th of April.
