Nine states are conducting the 4th phase of the Lok Sabha elections on the 29th of April across India.

The states will contest a total of 72 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. The elections began at 7:00 A.M., and will continue till 6:00 P.M.

Approximately 940 candidates are in the fray to contest the 72 Lok Sabha seats in the 9 states.

The voter turnout in the Indian states till 11:00 A.M., was:

Bihar: 13.95 %

Jammu and Kashmir: 3.69 %

Madhya Pradesh: 18.65 %

Maharashtra: 8.15 %

Odisha: 10 %

Rajasthan: 15.08 %

Uttar Pradesh: 17.69 %

West Bengal: 21.69 %

Jharkhand: 20.87 %

The voter turnout in the Indian states till 10:00 A.M., was:

Rajasthan: 12.22 %

West Bengal: 16.89 %

Jharkhand: 12 %

Maharashtra: 7 %

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise and vote.

The Lok Sabha elections are divided into 7 phases, scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and the 19th of May.

On the 11th, 18th and the 23rd of April, the Indian states contested a total of 305 seats in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC.)

The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
