Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, the Member of Parliament (MP) candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) on the 22nd of April, filed her nomination to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

On the 22nd of April, Ms. Thakur filed her nomination for two assembly segments of the Bhopal constituency, whereas the nomination for the remaining two segments will be filed on the 23rd of April. Ms. Thakur asked the Election Commission (EC) of Bhopal to arrange the nomination filing process on the ground floor as she cannot climb stairs.

Pragya Singh Thakur, who is a self proclaimed sadhvi, took a vow to be silent till she files her nomination papers.

Sadhvi Pragya was accompanied by her advocate and Uma Shankar, a former minister and a member of the BJP, to the Collector’s office. Sadhvi Pragya submitted her nomination papers to the Returning Officer (RO) of the Bhopal constituency in Madhya Pradesh.

Ms. Thakur will contest the Madhya Pradesh Lok Sabha elections against Digvijaya Singh, the MP candidate of the Indian National Congress (INC) in Bhopal.

Madhya Pradesh will contest a total of 29 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. The Madhya Pradesh Lok Sabha elections are divided into four phases, scheduled on the 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and 19th of May.

The results of the Madhya Pradesh Lok Sabha elections will be declared on the 23rd of May.
