Indira Shobhan, the Spokesperson of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC,) on the 5th of April, criticised K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR,) the Chief Minister of Telangana, and the Election Commission (EC) of Telangana.
Ms. Shobhan said, the EC of Telangana is a puppet of the KCR led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS.) The comments came as the EC of Telangana is taking a lot of time to give symbols to the independent farmers who filed their nominations to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Nizamabad.
Disappointed with the TRS Government and Kalakuntla Kavitha, the Member of Parliament of Nizamabad, approximately 245 farmers of Nizamabad filed their nominations as MP candidates against Ms. Kavitha.
Highlighting the reason for the delay in providing the symbols, Ms. Shobhan said, KCR, the President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) is afraid of the defeat of K. Kavitha, his daughter, in the Nizamabad constituency.
Shobhan also criticised the TRS for inducting Mandava Venkateswara Rao, a Telugu Desam Party member, into the TRS and said, it was done because KCR is afraid of losing the Lok Sabha elections.
In addition, Satish Madiga, another official spokesperson of the INC, praised the Party and said, it was the INC which stood for the poor citizens of Telangana.
Moving further, Satish highlighted the schemes and welfare activities launched by the INC for the Scheduled Castes (SCs.)
The criticism is said to be a part of the campaign strategy of the INC, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana.
Telangana will contest a total of 17 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, scheduled to be held on the 11th of April.
The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana are the TRS, the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
The results of the Telangana Lok Sabha elections will be declared on the 23rd of May 2019.
