Actor turned politician Ravi Kishan promised to build a Bhojpuri Film City in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) come to power again in the State.

Addressing a public rally, on the 19th of April, Mr. Kishan said, “A MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with state government has been already been signed to set up Bhojpuri film industry in sprawling 150 acre area with an outlay of ₹ 500 crores in the heart of city so that youths can pursue their dreams of earning name and fame in film industry (sic.)”

Since 2009, the Bhojpuri actors and filmmakers were demanding a dedicated film city for Bhojpuri films as the Industry is growing well and earning good profit.

Approximately 100 Bhojpuri films are released every year making a profit of Rs. 200 crores.

The Bhojpuri film city in the State is one of the major needs of the filmmakers and actors who have a contribution to Bhojpuri films.

Ravi Kishan urged the citizens of Gorakhpur to vote for his Party, the BJP. During the rally, Mr. Kishan confidently spoke about his chances of winning the elections.

Kishan said, “We are going to win 73 plus seats with a historical win in the land of Baba Gorakhnath and CM Yogi. I will serve the people of Gorakhpur by keeping the Kharau (wooden slippers) of Yogi Ji.”

Uttar Pradesh is the state with the highest number of seats in the Lok Sabha elections across India.

The two major parties, the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) are trying hard to win the elections.

Uttar Pradesh will contest a total of 80 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, divided into 7 phases. Out of the 80 seats, the State contested a total of 18 seats on the 11th and the 18th of April, in the 1st and 2nd phases of the elections. The polling for the remaining 62 seats will be conducted in 5 phases, scheduled on the 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and the 19th of May 2019.

The major parties contesting the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections are the Indian National Congress (INC,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the grand alliance of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP.)

The results of the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
