Ph.D. Student’s Body Found at IIT Delhi Campus

27 year old, Manjula Devak was a final year Ph.D., student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. On Tuesday, the woman’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her room at the Delhi campus.

At 7:40 P.M., in Nalanda Apartments on the IIT campus, her body was found. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Chinmoy Biswal reported that the reason behind her suicide is still unclear.

Sources have informed the police received a distress call from the Delhi campus and Manjula was rushed to the nearest hospital where she was declared dead.

A Water Resources student, Manjula Devak was married to Ritesh Virha. Bishwal also added that the news of her death has been conveyed to her husband and parents who reside in Bhopal.

An official reported, “We are investigating all possible reasons behind her decision to take the extreme step since no suicide note was found on her person or from the scene. The Vasant Vihar police station is investigating the matter.”

The police at the scene have reported that an inquiry has been initiated and the reason for the suicide is yet to be known. Manjula Devak didn’t leave a suicide note so, further investigation will be conducted to find out more.
