Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, on the 20th of June, addressed a joint session of the Parliament, Delhi.

Mr. Kovind, during the 3rd day of the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha, praised the Government of India (GoI) for the surgical strikes ordered by them, solving issues of corruption, women empowerment and the stand of India against terrorism.

Ram Nath Kovind also appreciated the proposal of ‘One India, One Election’ and asked all the political parties to consider it seriously.

Mr. Kovind said, “There is a need to bring in a ‘one nation-one election’ system so that the country can grow faster and the country’s people can benefit.”

He stated, “With such a system, all political parties will be able to harness their energy for the development and welfare of the people in accordance with their ideology.” He further added, “I call upon all MPs to seriously consider the development-oriented proposal of ‘one nation – one election together.”

Moving further, Mr. Kovind also spoke about the security threat to India from foreign countries. He said, India will soon implement a process of ‘National Register of Citizens.’

Ram Nath Kovind also stated, the GoI will also speed up the work to clean all the rivers of India and get rid of the dirty drains which enter Ganga, as a part of the Namami Gange scheme.

The other major topics highlighted by Ram Nath Kovid were related to terrorism, startups in India, education, the poor section of India, health care schemes and water scarcity, amongst many others.

Mr. Kovid committed to improve the living standard of the people of India and said, the Government will also improve the effort put in for the development of Country.

The first session of the 17th Lok Sabha started from the 17th of June and will continue till the 26th of July.
