Today in a shocking revelation Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif has been disqualified as a member of the National Assembly by the Supreme Court due to the Panama Papers leak case. The leak revealed Nawaz Sharif guilty of corruption.
Once the Supreme Court of Pakistan gave its judgment, PM Nawaz Sharif resigned.
The five judge bench made a unanimous verdict that declared Nawaz Sharif is no longer honest or righteous. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has also been disqualified by the Supreme Court.
The new contenders for Prime Minister of Pakistan have been declared as Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Defence Minister Khwaja Asif.
Once, Nawaz Sharif’s corruption was revealed by the Supreme Court, Pakistan’s stock market dropped by 3.4 percent.
Ishaq Dar was Nawaz Sharif’s previous accountant and he submitted to the court documents of how Sharif’s family procured their wealth. The documents also contained a portfolio of the families upscale properties in London.
Judge Ejaz Afzal Khan told the court during the trial, “He (Nawaz Sharif) is no more eligible to be an honest member of the Parliament, and he ceases to be holding the office of prime minister.”
Nawaz Sharif has refused the allegations and many of the Sharif’s supporters believe it was a conspiracy to unseat him.
Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq tweeted, “This is not accountability, it is revenge. In an effort dislodge us, the democratic system has been made a target.”
Nawaz Sharif will head a meeting in Islamabad to decide on the appointment of the new Prime Minister. He expressed sorrow regarding the Supreme Court’s decision and claimed the allegations are false.
The Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan also directed that cases needed to be opened against Sharif’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, her husband Captain Muhammad Safdar and Sharif’s sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz.
