Jind, a 17 year old teenager, on the 7th of July, committed suicide after he was restricted from playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG,) an online fighting game, in Haryana.
According to sources, Jind was addicted to PUBG and when his mother took his phone on the 6th of July on grounds of playing PUBG all day, he hanged himself and took his life.
Jind also left his studies after 10th standard and used to spend most of his time playing PUBG.
The incident came to light after Jind’s mother found him hanging in the room on the 7th of July.
Jind’s father, who is also a policeman, said, “I was on duty on Saturday evening when my wife found him playing PUBG in his room and snatched his mobile phone. She found him hanging in the room the next morning.”
Although the parents of the victim did not file an official complaint, the Haryana Police are investigating the issue.
This is not the first case where a teenager committed suicide due to PUBG. Recently, a teenager obsessed with the game killed his brother. In another case, a man from Malaysia left his home and 4 months pregnant wife to play PUBG.
In Madhya Pradesh, a 15 year old ran away from his house to play PUBG, whereas a 16 year old died of cardiac arrest while playing PUBG.
The Government of India (GoI) tried to put strict regulations on the online game.
