Navjot Singh Sidhu, the former Chief Minister of Punjab, on the 16th of February, was sacked from Sony TV’s popular comedy show, The Kapil Sharma Show.

Sidhu was sacked by the Channel after a few angry citizens demanded, Sidhu be boycotted for his comments regarding the Pulwama terror attack.

Navjot Singh Sidhu said, “It (the terror attack) is a cowardly and dastardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished.” He further said, “For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual?”

On the 18th of February, Kapil Sharma was further targeted on Twitter after he spoke about the exit of Sidhu from his comedy show.

During an event, Kapil Sharma addressed the media and said, “These are very small things, or can also be a part of propaganda. I feel banning someone or sacking Navjot Singh Sidhu from the show is not the solution. We need to look for a permanent solution.”

Mr. Sharma further said, “We are with the Government, but still, we need a permanent solution. The cowardly act in Pulwama that killed our soldiers shouldn’t be forgotten and the culprits should be punished.”

The comments of Kapil Sharma drew a lot of criticism and people are boycotting Kapil Sharma for his comments, with #BoycottKapilSharma.

Outraged angry Twitteratis are being short tempered and aggressive against people for expressing their thoughts, under the right to freedom of speech.

This is not the first time Twitter users are reacting in such a manner. On several occasions, Twitteratis have taken to Twitter and expressed their thoughts against something or the other, including the banning of Pakistani artists from India, cow slaughter, etc. However, their anger cools down with time and they end up being back to normal.

Do you think boycotting someone for their personal thoughts and comments an appropriate way to express your anger?
