On Wednesday, a murder came to light in Ramangara near Bengaluru, and to everyone’s surprise, the case was solved within minutes after the police arrived. The credit for the murder being solved went to the sniffer dog that sniffed out the murderer.

The police received a call from a 23 year old man named Venkatesh who lived in Ramasandra village near Kengeri, Upangara. Venkatesh told the police Kavya a 21 year old girl was murdered at the village.

The police arrested Venkatesh after the sniffer dog they brought to the crime scene would not stop barking at Venkatesh.

Venkatesh even informed Kavya’s mother telling her that two men on a bike brutally stabbed their daughter to death.

Venkatesh gave the exact same story to the police when he was called into the control room to report the murder.

When the police began the investigation starting with the crime scene, the sniffer dog kept barking at Venkatesh. The police then saw the blood stains on Venkatesh’s shirt and arrested him.

The officer at the Ramanagara Police Station reported they suspected Venkatesh as he was very nervous. But the police did not act on their judgment as Kavya’s family stood by Venkatesh and refused to believe he would have committed the crime.

The officer was quoted saying, “He told us that the stains may have landed on him while he was trying to save Kavya. We had to double check before arresting or letting him go. So we decided to call him to the station on the pretext of filing an FIR since he was the one who called in to report the crime. Venkatesh was told to change his clothes before heading to the police station.”

The police further added, “The same dog, which was made to sniff the crime scene, went right to Venkatesh’s bloodstained clothes and began barking. Venkatesh was detained and questioned, after which he confessed to the crime.”

The police reported Venkatesh and Kavya were in school together and when Venkatesh’s parents died Kavya’s father, Chandru an auto rickshaw driver decided to let him stay with them.
The police narrated the events that resulted in the death of Kavya, “Kavya was working as an accountant in a finance company in Mariyappana Palya. She got Venkatesh a job in the same firm. Recently, the company found Rs. 90,000 missing in the transactions handled by Venkatesh and she had told the management that she would get Venkatesh to repay the amount. Venkatesh and Kavya began arguing about this issue and Venkatesh, who was angry that Kavya had humiliated him in front of his colleagues by believing that he had stolen the money, argued with her on Wednesday night as well. When the argument got heated, her pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the neck.”

The police have registered a case of murder and Venkatesh has been booked for the crime.
