The United States of America (U.S.A) based Computer Science Corp (CSC,) filed a complaint against Indian IT Company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS,) accusing the Company of  stealing its trade secrets.

According to CSC, TCS was actively stealing trade secrets to build a trade platform of its own. This move comes after TCS won a $ 2 billion deal from US insurer, TransAmerica last year.

“Our legal team is reviewing the allegations and will respond appropriately. TCS will strongly defend its position before the court. As this is a pending legal matter, TCS would not like to comment further at this time,” a TCS spokesperson said in a statement.

This is the second such lawsuit filed against TCS since the IT Company lost a similar case to Epic Systems. When TCS lost the case to Epic Systems, it faced a major setback to the tune of $ 420 million in penalties.

US based software firm, Epic Systems filed the case against TCS in the year 2014 for trade theft and said that the Indian IT Company stole more than 6,000 documents with confidential data. The initial fine levied on TCS was to the tune of $ 940 million, which a court later reduced in half.

CSC also claims that  a TCS employee copy pasted codes from their original software documentation, as well as the Company owned Vantage source code into an email and sent the details to their colleagues.

The theft was apparently discovered when a CSC employee with a TransAmerica email id received an email with the codes, possibly by accident.

CSC is seeking a temporary restriction order on TCS.

Stay tuned for more updates.
