The Hyderabad Police, on the 14th of June, arrested three people who allegedly shared fake news of people going missing in Telangana.

Since last week, citizens of Telangana are in panic mode as several social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are spreading news of missing people in the State.

A newspaper of Telangana also published a report which claims more than 500 people from Telangana went missing in the last 45 days.

However, the Hyderabad Police denied the reports of these missing cases and said it is fake news.

On the 14th of June, the Hyderabad Police arrested G. Venkat, Kranthi Kiran and Balraju who shared fake messages on social media regarding women’s kidnapping.

The shared post states, “The number of missing complaints in Hyderabad has been increasing day by day nearly 82 people went missing in Telangana within 24 hours on Saturday.”

The police issued an alert for other people who are spreading the news and registered a suo moto case against the culprits.

Avinash Mahanti, the Joint Commissioner addressed the media and confirmed the arrest of the culprits.
