Nusrat Jahan Ruhi Jain and Mimi Chakraborty, the Members of Parliament (MPs) of the Trinamool Congress (TMC,) on the 25th of June, administered the oath of office as Lok Sabha members.
Nusrat Jahan Ruhi Jain is the MP of Basirhat constituency, whereas Mimi represents the Jadavpur constituency in West Bengal.
Both the MPs did not attend the previous sessions of the 17th Lok Sabha as they were in Turkey for Nusrat’s wedding.
Recently, on the 19th of June, Nusrat Jahan got married to Nikhil Jain, a businessman.
Both Nusrat and Mimi took the oath in front of Om Birla, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
Like every MP in the past, Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan Ruhi Jain also took the oath in their mother tongue, is Bengali and ended with ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Jai Hind.’
This was the first day of Mimi and Nusrat in the Monsoon session of the Parliament, after winning the Lok Sabha elections from their respective constituencies.
There are a total of 542 MPs in the Lok Sabha, out of which, 300 represent the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
The 17th Lok Sabha session started from the 17th of June and will continue till the 26th of July.
