Uttarakhand – PM Modi Begins Kedarnath Visit

Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, on the 18th of May, started his two day visit to Kedarnath and Badrinath, Uttarakhand.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sought permission from the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the visit.

According to sources, Mr. Modi is scheduled to visit Kedarnath on the 18th of May, whereas he will offer prayers at Badrinath on the 19th of May.

PM Modi’s visit to Uttarakhand is said to be an official one.

Since the last day of campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections was the 16th of May, the ECI reminded the BJP of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) which is still in action.

The MCC will remain enforced till the 23rd of May, the day on which the results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced.

The Lok Sabha elections will end on the 19th of May. In the last phase, a total of 7 states will contest 59 Lok Sabha seats.

The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the BJP and the Indian National Congress (INC.)
