In Kabul, Afghanistan, a massive explosion was reported in a mosque.
As per the local media, the blast happened on the evening of the 17th of August and killed approximately 20 people and left as many as 40 severely injured.
It is to be noted, that the explosion occurred after the evening prayers at the mosque on Wednesday.
Mr. Khalid Zadran, the Kabul Police Spokesperson, said, “A blast happened inside a mosque…. the blast has casualties, but the numbers are not clear yet.”
The Taliban intelligence official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the explosion occurred in a mosque among worshippers in the Khair Khana area of Kabul. Furthermore, among the decease, the Imam of the mosque was also there. In addition, considering the current situation and many feared trapped, the death toll may rise.
Meanwhile, an intelligence team rushed to the blast site and launched investigations, which are underway.
On the other hand, no terrorist outfit or group has yet claimed responsibility for the massive explosion in the capital of Afghanistan. Moroever, the Taliban, which is ruling the Islamic country of Afghanistan has also not released any official statement in regard to the explosion at the mosque.
