Nearly 3 months after the announcement of separation, the Microsoft cofounder and philanthropist Bill Gates and his wife Melinda Gates officially got divorced.
It is to be noted, on the 3rd of May, they announced their decision to separate. After being married to each other for 27 years, the couple parted ways and started fresh being single again.
The King County Court judge finalized the dissolvement of the 27 years marriage on the 2nd of August, Monday.
According to the Court orders, neither party will receive “spousal support” or change their names. The judge ordered Mr. Bill Gates and Ms. Melinda Gates to divide their property according to the terms of a separation contract, which remains confidential under the terms of the divorce. After filing for the divorce, as per the Washington State laws, a stipulated 90 day waiting period was given to the couple. Following the completion of the given time, the Court finalised the divorce.
On the 3rd of May, the Microsoft cofounder took to Twitter and posted a tweet which read, “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage. Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable people to lead healthy, productive lives.”
However, no details of the agreement regarding the property or other arrangements have been revealed.
It is to be noted, the duo said they would continue to work together at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The couple was married in 1994 in Hawaii and completed 27 years of togetherness on the 1st January 2021. They have three children named Jennifer, Rory and Phoebe.
