Jair Bolsonaro, the President of Brazil, on the 7th of July, confirmed positive for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 infection.
Mr. Bolsonaro confirmed the news live on television. “There’s no reason for fear. That’s life.” He further added, “Life goes on. I thank God for my life and the role I’ve been given to decide the future of this great nation that is called Brazil.”
According to sources, Jair Bolsonaro participated in several social events and political rallies. It is also said he often was seen without mask or wearing masks incorrectly.
Addressing a video, the Brazil President said, “Just look at my face. I’m well, fine, thank God … Thanks to all those who have been praying for me … and to those who criticise me, no problem, carry on criticising as much as you like.”
Jair Bolsonaro was tested positive three days after he had lunch at the residence of Todd Chapman, the United States (U.S.,) Ambassador to Brazil.
Besides, Mr. Bolsonaro also attended Independence Day celebration with several top cabinet members, foreign minister, Ernesto Araújo, defence minister, Fernando Azevedo, and the president’s son, Eduardo.
During the event, Jair Bolsanaro was without a face mask.
On the 6th of July, the Brazil President, 65 year old felt uneasy and weak. He said, “If I hadn’t done the tests and hadn’t been taking chloroquine, I could be contaminating people.
Now I have to avoid infecting others.”
Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, took to Twitter and wished speedy recovery of Jair Bolsonaro.

Meanwhile, Brazil is the second worst hit nation for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
Brazil has a total of 1,674,655 positive cases, of which 66,868 cases till the 8th of July.
