The Indian Government evacuated 168 people stranded in Kabul, Afghanistan till the 22nd of August.

The Indian Air Force is airlifting Indian citizens stranded in the war zone of Kabul, Afghanistan.

The rescue operation is being done by the Air Force in a military transport aircraft. A government source familiar with the development, who wished to be anonymous, said the Indians were brought back in a special Air India flight from Dushanbe, the Capital of Tajikistan.

The Union External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi, ”Evacuation continues!IAF special repatriation flight with 168 passengers onboard, including 107 Indian nationals, is on its way to Delhi from Kabul.” The Spokesperson further said, ”Bringing Indians home from Afghanistan!AI 1956 carrying 87 Indians departs from Tajikistan for New Delhi. Two Nepalese nationals also evacuated.Assisted and supported by our Embassy @IndEmbDushanbe. More evacuation flights to follow.” The tweets were posted around 1:20 A.M., on the 22nd of August.

Since the 16th of August, the Indian Government has been carrying the rescue operation to bring back stranded Indians from Kabul, Afghanistan. The first evacuation flight brought back over 40 people, mostly staff of the Indian Embassy in Kabul.

The second C-17 aircraft evacuated around 150 people including Indian diplomats, officials, security personnel and some stranded Indians from Kabul.

The Taliban swept across Afghanistan this month, seizing control of almost all key towns and cities including Kabul in the backdrop of the withdrawal of the US forces.

Meanwhile, the violence in Kabul is intensifying the search of the U.S., forces and Afghans who are trying to flee from Afghanistan. Recently, the Taliban took over Afghanistan and it’s Capital Kabul and are all set to take power with new Sharia Law and regulations for the citizens of Afghanistan.

In addition, the Taliban is likely to announce the new Government soon.
