General Qasem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, was killed in an airstrike launched by the United States of America (U.S.A.)

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force is designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation by the U.S.

General Qasem Soleimani’s death was confirmed by the White House and Pentagon.  According to the White House, General Soleimani was planning a terror attack against U.S. diplomats.  Based on the information and orders of Donald Trump, the President of the U.S.A., the U.S. forces carried out an airstrike and killed General Soleimani at Baghdad’s international airport.

Besides, General Qasem Soleimani, Abu Mahdi al Muhandis, the Deputy Commander of Iran backed militias known as the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF,) was also killed in the airstrike.

Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Foreign Minister of Iran, said, “The brutality and stupidity of American terrorist forces in assassinating Commander Soleimani… will undoubtedly make the tree of resistance in the region and the world more prosperous.”  He took to Twitter and described the airstrike as “an extremely dangerous and foolish escalation.”

Joe Biden, the former Vice President of the U.S.A., said, “This is a hugely escalatory move in an already dangerous region… President Trump just tossed a stick of dynamite into a tinderbox, and he owes the American people an explanation of the strategy and plan to keep safe our troops and embassy personnel, our people and our interests, both here at home and abroad, and our partners throughout the region and beyond.”

While others were not happy with Donald Trump’s decision of launching an airstrike, many applauded him, saying terrorists like Soleimani, responsible for attacks against the U.S.A., deserve it.
