On Monday, the 25th of October, Sudanese Military Forces arrested the Prime Minister of Sundan Mr. Abdalla Hamdok.

Along with the Country’s Prime Minister, the forces also arrested the ministers of Sudan. They also blocked roads, bridges, disrupted internet access in the nation. The arrest of the Sudan PM and other ministers and higher level officials was an act of military take over. Similar to Taliban-Afghanistan situation is being witnessed in Sudan. The citizens of Sudan gathered on roads to protest against the military forces, taking over the ruling Government and trying to impose their rules. The democracy of Sudan is in danger. To control the situation, the military forces are using tear gas and water cannons on people who stood on roads of Khartoum, the Capital City of Sudan, to protest. Thousands of people were protesting against the arrest of civilian leaders by the military forces. There were reports of gunfire and injuries during the clash. The videos of the people on roads, setting fires on vehicles, tyres and others are being shared on social media platforms.

Meanwhile, as of now, the whereabouts of Prime Minister Mr. Abdalla Hamdok is not known. The sudden take over of military forces came like a shock to other nations. The United States (U.S.,) Special Envoy to thr Horn of Africa Mr. Jefrey Feltman, said, “Washington was “deeply alarmed” by reports of the military takeover. ”

Monday’s arrests come after weeks of rising tensions between Sudan’s civilian and military leaders. This is the second time the military leaders attempted to take over the Sudan Government. Previously, they tried a similar act in September 2021 and failed.

As of now, Mr. Abdalla Hamdok and five government figures were detained and are under military force’s custody.
