U.S. Special Counsel, Robert Mueller indicted 13 Russians and 3 Russian companies for interfering in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Elections. The accused used social media propaganda to influence the elections.

On Friday Robert Mueller’s office released the indictment statement. The indictment states these Russians created hundreds of social media accounts on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The Russians bought a space in the U.S. for the computer servers to cover their tracks.

The accused posed as active Americans by stealing American identities with fraudulent bank accounts and fake identification documents. These accounts were used to advocate for and against certain political candidates.

Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein said, “The indictment alleges that the Russian conspirators want to promote discord in the United States and undermine public confidence in democracy. We must not allow them to succeed.”

Robert Mueller is investigating the Democrats allegations of Russian interference in the Presidential Elections. According to the Democrats the Russians helped Donald Trump win the election. However, Trump has continually denied these allegations titling it ‘fake news.’
