Carmen Calvo, the Deputy Prime Minister of Spain, tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 positive, on the 25th of March.

The Prime Minister’s office (PMO) released an official statement confirming the news.

The issued statement read, “As of now, Ms. Calvo is receiving medical treatment and progressing favorably.”

Meanwhile, Spain has the second highest death numbers after Italy.  Italy reported a total of 743 people died on the 25th of March.  The death toll in Spain jumped to 738 and more than 3,434 COVID-19 positive cases till date.  The reason for the increased cases is the overwhelmed medical facilities and healthcare system in Spain.  The Medical Department reported the issue to the Government and demanded better medical facilities to improve the work.

Meanwhile the Spanish Government allotted  432 million euros ($467 million) worth of masks, gloves, testing kits and ventilators to be delivered over the next eight weeks.

The deadly Novel Coronavirus which was first reported in China infected  4,71,820 people and killed 21,297 till date.
