Spider Man Co-creator Ditko Dies At 90

The Spider Man co-creator, artist Steve Ditko died at the age of 90. The causes of death has remained unknown. His body was found in his apartment on June 29 by the New York Police Department (NYPD.) It is believed he died two days prior to that.

Ditko, along with Marvel Editor In Chief Lee created the Spider Man character in the year 1961. He not only created the costume and design of the Spider Man but also helped in creating characters like Green Goblin, The Lizard, Sandman and Doctor Octopus. Over the years, these characters have gained a life of their own. Ditko is also credited for his 1963 creation of the surreal superhero Doctor Strange.

He left Marvel Comics after a fight with Lee and joined Small publishing houses including DC Comics. In 1979, he made his return to Marvel and worked on Machine Man. He remained a freelancer with Marvel till the 1990s and created characters like the Squirrel Girl (1992.)

He continued to work in his Manhattan Studio until his recent demise. He had never been married and have no known survivors. His death has created a vacuum in the lives of comic lovers.
