Wuhan City of China started conducting the Novel Coronavirus test of the 11 million people residing in the City fearing another wave of COVID-19 infections.
Wuhan recently, on the 8th of April, lifted the lockdown with the opening of all facilities like public transport, restaurants, schools and others. However, on the 10th of May, the City witnessed five new COVID-19 cases.
The Chinese authorities are in fear regarding the new cases of the Novel Coronavirus and decided to conduct tests of all the residents of Wuhan.
The Wuhan Government issued a notice regarding the same which read “Each district shall make arrangements for nucleic acid screening for all members within 10 days.” Testing would be done through third-party companies and some hospital and disease control employees.
The local governments would bear the expenses and should not leave anyone without tests. They even announced a tagline for the same “Leave no one behind.” The campaign to test every resident of Wuhan started on the 14th of May and till date, the City conducted 4,000,000 tests.
