Approximately 50 stray dogs were poisoned in Telladevarapalli village, Nalgonda district, Telangana.

On the 9th of July, Papa Nayak, the Sarpanch of Telladevarapalli village, ordered the poisoning of the street dogs. The bodies of the dogs were dumped at the Nakkala Gandi water project site.

The incident came to light on the 10th of July, when Dr. Gaurav Uppal, the District Collector (DC) of Nalgonda, ordered an inquiry to find out who was responsible for the death of the dogs.

Yadav, the District Panchayat officer, said, “The locals of the village have been complaining about the dog menace in the area. They claimed that a few dogs had been attacking them. Due to such complaints, the sarpanch had ordered the killing.”

Gaurav Uppal affirmed, the culprits behind the killing will be caught and punished under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)

An investigation regarding the case is underway.
