Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the General Secretary in charge of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) of Uttar Pradesh East, on the 24th of April, took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
Ms. Gandhi addressed a public rally in Khaga area of Fatehpur district and said, “Fifty percent of their speeches target my family members questioning what Nehruji or Indiraji did? But they do not tell people what they did in the past five years.”
Priyanka Gandhi said, the members of the Modi led BJP use their speeches to defame the Gandhi family, instead of telling the public about the development in India.
The BJP members frequently criticise Rahul Gandhi, the President of the Indian National Congress (INC,) as well as his Party.
Ms. Gandhi further criticised Mr. Modi for not fulfilling the promises made during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
According to Ms. Gandhi, in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised several schemes and welfare funds for the poor, but failed to keep up his promise.
Ms. Gandhi further criticised Mr. Modi’s foreign trips and said, he meets actors and industrialists, but never meets farmers.
The criticism is said to be a campaign strategy of the INC for the Lok Sabha elections.
The Lok Sabha elections started from the 11th of April and will continue till the 19th of May.
The Lok Sabha elections are divided into 7 phases, scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and 19th of May.
The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the INC and the BJP.
