Surendra Singh, a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) relived the Ramayana (a mythological book) while talking to a few reporters, on the 30th of January.

Surendra Singh referred to Rahul Gandhi, the President of the Indian National Congress (INC,) as Ravana (the embodiment of evil in Ramayana) and Rahul Gandhi’s sister, Priyanka Gandhi, as Surpanakha (Ravana’s sister.) Mr. Singh ended his comparison by deeming Prime Minister Narendra Modi as ‘Lord Rama,’ the embodiment of good in Ramayana.

Mr. Singh addressed the reporters and said, “When the battle between Lord Ram and Ravana was about to begin, Ravana had sent his sister Surpanakha. It appears that Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be in the role of Ravana and PM Modi in the role of Ram. Rahul, who will be in the role of Ravana, has fielded his sister Surpanakha. Believe me, Lanka has been won.”

Singh’s comments related to the Hindu mythology came after he spotted a poster in Patna, wherein Rahul Gandhi was portrayed as Lord Rama.

Mr. Singh also criticised the appointment of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, on the 23rd of January.

Speaking about the win of the INC in the Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, Singh said, “Congress is a sinking boat. It won in Rajasthan, MP (Madhya Pradesh) because of SC/ST act. It will not enjoy that kind of support elsewhere.”

Confident about the victory of the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Surendra Singh said, the INC will not win the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held between April and May 2019. The major parties contesting are the INC and the BJP.
