Rabri Devi, the former Chief Minister of Bihar, on the 14th of February, made a sarcastic comment about Mulayam Singh Yadav’s appreciation for Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi.

Rabri Devi said, “Unki umar ho gayi hai. Yaad nahi rehta hai kab kya bol denge. Unki boli ka koi mayene nahi rakhta hai [He is old now. He can’t remember what to say when. His statements bear no relevance.]”

The comments came after Mulayam Singh Yadav, the former President and the founder of the Samajwadi Party (SP,) on the 13th of February, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He claimed, Modi is the perfect candidate for the PM’s post in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Mulayam Singh said, “I wish that PM Modi, you should become the prime minister again. I have experienced that whenever I met you, you got my work done instantly.”

The statement of Mulayam Singh made a lot of people upset. Azam Khan, a senior SP leader in Bihar, stated, the statement made by Mr. Yadav was not his, but someone else’s. He said, “Bahut dukh hua hai ye sunkar. Ye bayan unke munh me daala gaya hai. Ye bayan Mulayam Ji ka nahi hai, ye bayan Neta Ji se dilwaya gaya hai.”

The comments of Mr. Yadav also left Akhilesh Yadav, the President of the SP and Mulayam Yadav’s son, in shock, as Akhilesh and his Party are against the Modi Government. The relations between Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav went bad during the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2017.

The grand alliance of Akhilesh Yadav’s SP and Mayawati Das’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is considered a weapon against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections.

The State will contest a total of 80 Lok Sabha seats in the ensuing elections, scheduled between April and May 2019.

Stay tuned for further updates about the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections.
