Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister (CM) of Bihar, on the 22nd of February, sent a message regarding the abolition of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, to the Central Government.

Mr. Kumar is against the idea of abolishing Article 370, which grants an autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “The Muslim community in this Country is equally pained over the Pulwama attack like everyone. I don’t understand why someone wants to boycott Kashmir. We should not take action against Kashmiris as they are part of India.” He further said, “Whatever action is required to take against terrorists, the government will surely take it. I personally can never think of revoking Article 370 from the Valley.”

The ruling Government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court to abolish Article 370, in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack.

Mr. Kumar also advised the Central Government to focus on defeating terrorism, instead of taking away the autonomous status of Jammu and Kashmir. He said, a terror attack should not be the reason to take the provision assigned to the State years ago.

The words of Nitish Kumar regarding the Article came after Giriraj Singh, a Union Minister of the BJP, advised the Party to abolish Article 370.

The demand to scrap the Article came after the Pulwama terror attack, which took place on the 14th of February.
