Letters to Modi by a 10-year Old for Ganga Project

Sometimes we all need that small spark of positivity and purity to know that the world is really a good place and to keep that hope alive. What better way to instill that faith than to look at innocent kids who still see the world from rosy eyes and a clear mind. One such story is of G. Shashank, a 10-year old kid from Chennai, who sent a letter to the Prime Minister of India in effort to clean up the holy river Ganga.

Shashank also sent Rs. 1000 cash along with the letter to Narendra Modi stating that he wanted to contribute in any little way possible to help clean the polluted Ganga that is most auspicious of rivers for Indians owning to its historical past and origins. It was the amount that he had won in a school competition and willingly gave away for the betterment of the society. “Ganga is a religious river and we should do everything in our capacity to protect it.” wrote Shashank in his letter. He also wrote that he uses everything “natural” and doesn’t use plastic or polyethylene bags. This is really heart warming to know in the age where everything is damaged, destructive or dishonest.

A word of gratitude and appreciation must also go to his parents who have brought him up with such principles and morals, such patriotism for his country and its resources. Only if all parents brought up their children this way, we would have a better society. It is still not too late though and we all can do our bit to inspire and change the nation as Modiji has been vying to do, especially with Mann Ki Baat. Only last week he had mentioned about another youngster, Harshvardhan, who increased his study time by three hours so that he can grow up to be an asset for his nation. Such guidance can come a long way in making India a better place.
