Police Arrests Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar

Delhi: The Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested by the police of Delhi on Tuesday. He was arrested on charges of submitting fake degree while filing nomination for Delhi Assembly Polls, held in February this year. The police arrested the minister from his residence in the morning and took him to police station of Hauz Khas.

Last night, an FIR was registered against the AAP leader and was taken into custody in the alleged fake degree case and has been charged under the various sections including 420. it is learnt that a team of police had gone to Bihar to investigate charges that he had used fake degrees.

Earlier, the BJP alleged that Tomar is an undergraduate from the Bihar’s Bhagalpur University. However, Tomar refuted them saying ‘baseless’ and also added that it is a political conspiracy by the BJP.

The police received a complaint aginst Tomar by the Bar Council of Delhi on May 9. An inquiry was ordered into the authenticity of the certificates of Tomar. The council asked him to submit the original certificates by May 27 but his advocate sought time till July. However, the council declined his request.
