On Wednesday, Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal suspended 22 of their MBBS students. The students were suspended on charges of drinking alcohol on the campus.
The college has suspended the students until the 4th of December as they created a ruckus on the campus during a birthday celebration of a student.
Earlier this week, the warden saw the students getting drunk and immediately alerted the principal Dr. V. Chandrashekar. The principal then issued notices to the 22 students demanding an explanation.
Reports were circulated that the students were smoking marijuana but the college administration dismissed these claims.
Dr. Chandrasekhar said, “I personally visited the hostel room where the birthday party was going on and I did not come across any traces of ganja being used or kept. The students were in an inebriated condition and were making noises.”
Warangal Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu explained, “The principal informed us that the students consumed liquor on the campus. According to his version, there was no incident of ganja consumption on the campus. But, we will probe into the matter.”
The principal further said, “We have constituted an inquiry committee to look into the matter. The committee will submit its report by December 5. We will take further action after we receive the report.”
