Bihar: Number Of Girls Raped Increased From Government Shelter

The number of girls rapes at the Government shelter home in Bihar has increased to 34 from 29 last week. The shocking case emerged last week when 40 girls filed a complaint about being assaulted on a regular basis.

Some of the girls also alleged that one of their inmates was beaten to death and buried on the premises. The police swung into action and began digging the site in Muzaffarpur but have not found a body

However medical test were being conducted on the 42 girls who lived at the Government shelter. The reports last week revealed 29 of the girls’ medical report showed sexual activity. Now the number has increased to 34 girls which has shocked the nation.

The Bihar police have arrested 10 people out of the 11 accused who worked in and around the Government funded shelter home.

Muzaffarpur SSP Harpreet Kaur said, “10 people have been arrested so far, we will soon file a charge sheet against them. None of the girls have mentioned that they were ever taken outside the hostel.”

The digging at the site was stopped and a soil sample was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory.  Mr. Kaur reported, “Nothing noteworthy has so far been found from the site during the excavation. However, the area of excavation might be enlarged after further examination of the girl who made the allegation.”

The NGO running the Government shelter have been blacklisted and the girls shifted to other homes in the neighboring district. The police also arrested the head of the NGO Brijesh Thakur.
