Hyderabad: The heat wave claimed more than 1,100 lives in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Till Wednesday evening, nearly 852 died in AP and 340 in Telangana. In just 48 hours, 550 died in AP and 125 in Telangana. Highest death toll registered in AP with 202 dead.
The heat wave is more severe in Coastal areas and it is the combined effect of north-westerly winds and trough over the east coast, according to IMD officials. The heat wave is expected to continue in both the states till Thursday. A warning has also been issued to various regions including Adilabad, Warangal, Guntur, Kurnool, Nizamabad, Krishna, Chittoor, Ranga Reddy, Karimnagar and Khammam.
