On Sunday, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao ordered the Prohibition and Excise Department to not spare anyone who is involved in the drug racket.

At a review meeting with senior officials, the Chief Minister strictly directed them to act tough against every individual involved in the drug bust and adulteration no matter how high up on the social ladder they might be.

The massive drug bust that has happened in Hyderabad over the last two weeks has also reported the involvement of certain Tollywood stars.

A statement released by the C.M.’s office read, “In this shady business, don’t leave any one. Any politician, even if there is a Cabinet minister involved in this crime, book cases against him.”

KCR also said he was pained to hear that even blood was being adulterated. He also stated that new laws needed to be brought in to ensure the accused are punished.

The senior officials at the meeting included Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Chief Advisor to the Government Rajiv Sharma, Excise Minister Padma Rao and Director General of Police Anurag Sharma.

Akun Sabharwal, Excise and Enforcement Director who is also heading the investigation into the drug bust was also present.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been probing the drug case and found the involvement of 12 Tollywood stars. The SIT has sent notices to the Tollywood stars and has asked them to appear in front of the investigation team for questioning.

So far 13 people have been arrested for their involvement in selling drugs around the city to 1,000 students from schools and colleges in the city.
