KCR’s Costly Trip to Tirumala

We all know how much the present Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao wanted to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh. No wonder he must have prayed and wished to make this happened. But we didn’t know that those prayers were infact so costly! News is doing rounds of KCR taking a trip to the holy hills of Tirumala to donate a solid gold ornament to Lord Balaji and a nose stud to Goddess Padmavati. Wondering what the estimate of such a donation might be? Well how does 5.6 Crores sound?

Exceedingly Extravagant, doesn’t it? But that is the way which KCR is going in his upcoming trip, the first one after Telangana-AP separation, to thank the lord for making his wish come true. The hoardings, welcoming the neighbouring state CM, have already been put up and feature slogans in favor of KCR, reading, “Nirupedala needa” (saviour of the poorest of the poor), “Avineeti Raabandula Simha Swapnam” (nightmare for the corrupt eagles of the state), “Janamejaya Maharaju” and “Jana Netha” (king of the people and leader of the people).

The news comes at much criticism with the government of Telangana itself banning all gold donations at temples. But this is not the first time KCR has donated heavy amount of gold. Last October, KCR presented a nearly 12 kg gold crown worth Rs. 3.5 crore to the Goddess Bhadrakali at Warangal. Also before that, a crown and necklace was presented to Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala and a nose stud to Goddess Kanaka Durga in Vijayawada. Not to mention the Chandi Yagam on which the politician spent crores of rupees which could have been their worth if spent on helping the poor and needy. To top it all, Chandrasekhar Rao also moved into a nine acres palatial home, complete with a home theatre for 250 that cost him 50 crores! Makes you wonder how much of it could have helped Telangana make a better state.
