Rahul Gandhi begins padyatra in Telangana

Hyderabad: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi began the padyatra from Koritical village in Adilabad district on Friday. The aim of the 15-km padyatra is to highlight the problems of farmers in the Telangana. The foot march is expected to continue until late afternoon.

Rahul Gandhi met the family of a farmer Velma Rajeshwar, who committed suicide due to debts. He also gave a cheque of Rs. 2 lakh to the wife of another famer, who ended his life.

Congress leaders of Telangana said that the interaction with farmers will induce confidence among the farmers. On the other hand, TRS leaders said that the Congress should play politics over the issues of farmers.

TRS MP K Visweswar Reddy said, “A democratic country like India needs a strong Opposition. Rahul Gandhi and Congress should focus on issues that don’t backfire on them. Selective amnesia will not serve their interests.”
