In a shocking case, a school teacher was arrested for brutally hitting a five year old student with a cane. The UKG student from Sacred Heart School at Tarnaka in Hyderabad suffered severe injuries on his back. The teacher identified as Kumudhini hit Mohammed Khaja Lateef with a cane for getting into a fight with a fellow student. The boy went home with injuries on his back and informed his parents about the incident.
Osmania University Police Inspector V. Ashok Reddy reported, “The student went home and told the whole case to the parents. Parents lodged a complaint. The police then arrested the teacher.” He further added, “She is suspected to have beaten him up with a cane or a stick on his back as a punishment for biting another student.”
A case has been registered against the teacher under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code as well as the Juvenile Justice Act. The police reported the case is being investigated and action will be taken against the accused.
The NGO Balala Hakkula Sangham that works for child rights have demanded the closure of the school and action against the school management for cruelty against a small child.
