In an attempt to make metro ticket booking easier for travellers, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRC,) in collaboration with WhatsApp, announced the facility for booking tickets through the application.
The new tech savy option would make commuting easier for people taking metros for work in Bangalore city, Karnataka. The new announcement would not only save commuters time but would make metro stations’ ticket counters less crowded.
It is to be noted, the BMRC said it is the first to provide transit service globally to enable end to end QR ticketing on WhatsApp.
The services would be available in English as well as Kannada for WhatsApp users to book tickets.
The chatbot for booking tickets would be named, Namma Metro chatbot, with which users could buy tickets on WhatsApp and make payments using the UPI services integrated with the application.
The WhatsApp chatbot can also be used to recharge metro cards.
Steps to book metro tickets using WhatsApp:
Open your WhatsApp – Add the chatbot number +9181055 56677 to your contact list.
Send a “Hello” message to the chatbot number.
Next, users can see several options, like recharging their metro pass or buying single tickets through WhatsApp payment.
