SmartPhone could be your passport soon

Britain: De la rue, a Britain-based passport banknote, passport manufacturer, have started a new project through which it aims to digitize passport.

The security printing company plans to transfer traveler’s personal details to smartphones. If the plan materialises, travelers need not carry their passport or other travel documents and can board flights with just a swipe of the phone.

However, the firm is facing few impediments with the project as passport authentication system varies from one country to another and there is also a risk of losing sensitive information if one loses the smartphone.

“Digital passports on your phone will require new hardware on the device in order to securely store the electronic passport so it cannot be copied from the phone,” the David Jevans from security company Proofpoint, as saying.
