For the 2019 general elections in Telangana, apart from the BJP President Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the UP CM Adityanath Yogi, has been roped into campaign in Telangana. K. Laxman, the Telangana state president of BJP revealed this information at a press conference on Thursday.
As he named two other leaders, Laxman asked, “The TRS is shivering after the visit of one leader, our party president Amit Shah. What will happen to it when three leaders campaign in Telangana?” Speaking to a popular news daily, he said, “Shah will visit Telangana again for 6 days in September this year. After that, UP CM Adityanath, as well as PM Modi, will visit Telangana.”
Adityanath has been a hot favorite of the people and the biggest attraction for BJP after PM Modi. BJP, seeing his pull towards the crowd, the party wanted him at the Telangana electorate. Party sources said, “Like Modi and Shah, Adityanath will speak only in Hindi but we expect him to have an impact in Telangana.” This is also a part of caste politics as Telangana State has large Yadav population. A party member said “Our aim is to ensure that Adityanath campaigns in the two Telugu States but at present, we can confirm only his visit to Telangana.”
At present, the party has 5 assembly seats in Telangana and is aiming at increasing this to at least 20 in next elections. For this purpose, the party plans on using national leaders influence in the State.
